Original British Napoleonic Pre-1804 Figure-8 Naval Cutlass

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a pre-1804 British Royal Navy marked "double disk" or figure-8 naval cutlass with round sheet metal grip and single fullered slightly curved blade marked with a proof or makers mark. This was a pattern commonly found in the mid to late 18th century (1750-1796) used by both British and American navies as documented in the authoritative "Boarders Away" reference guide. Measuring 33 inches overall these were often held without scabbards in racks aboard ship to allow instant access to repel boarders. Remains of rack number appeals to be on the bowl guard. Covered in old pitting, seen use and age, clearly absolutely original, just as used at the Battle of Trafalgar!
