Original British King Edward 7th Blues Horse Guard Household Cavalry Helmet- Circa 1902

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very rare example of a well-known helmet. The British Household Cavalry are made up of two regiments, The Life Guards who wear Red Tunics with White Horse hair plumes on their helmets and the "Blues" known as the Horse Guards who wear Blue Tunics and with Red Horse hair plumes in their helmets.

This Helmet comes from the period of 1902 - 1910 during the reign of King Edward 7th. We know this because the helmet plate (badge) bears what is known as a "King's Crown" having a semicircular top, the Queen's Crown has a distinct "dip" in the top of the crown.

The internal plume mounting plate was discontinued in this form by 1908 showing us that this helmet was issued between 1902 and 1908.

The nickel-plated brass helmet shows some minor surface scuffs and dents. The brass, originally gilt, helmet plate and adornments are dull from age and lack of polishing. The helmet comes complete with its original worn leather liner and brass chained chin scales. A very nice example of a hundred-year-old helmet now ready to display.
