Original British Flintlock Sporting Rifle by W. Mill of London - Circa 1820

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. Recovered from the Old Palace in Kathmandu, Nepal in 2003 this is a small and once wonderful Flintlock Sporting Rifle offered in as found condition.

The stock has been broken at the wrist so both the butt and the trigger assembly with trigger guard is long absent.

However, the rifle dates to about 1820 and is fitted with a rainproof pan. The Lock is signed "W. MILL" who worked at 120 HIGH HOLBORN, LONDON between 1810 and 1860.

The 26" octagonal barrel features gold lines around the breech and shows a large maker's touch mark at the breech on the top flat that is now virtually unreadable.

Once a high quality little gun, un-cleaned other than to read the maker's name this retains all the dirt, rust and grime 200 years can bring (just as we found it), for some dedicated collector gunsmith to restore.
