Original British Enclosed Flintlock Blunderbuss by Henry Nock- Circa 1800

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Item Available. This is very rare, the first Nock internal lock flintlock we've ever had and the very first Nock enclosed lock Blunderbuss we've ever seen! It came up in a country estate auction sale in the UK in early 2014 and no one even mentioned the internal aspect of the lock, lucky us!

Henry Nock was one of the leading British gun makers of the day and made vast quantities of arms for the British Crown, the British East India Company and the general public, his business thrived for 50 years, 1760 -1810, and many ingenious designs are attributed to Nock, including the famous Nock seven barreled volley gun and these experimental enclosed lock guns.

Our example is a complete sleeper just as it came out of the attic. The lock is marked-

H.NOCK

The 15-inch Brass Blunderbuss barrel with canon type muzzle bears correct British proof marks, some decorative engraving and Irish census markings, EC-2313, from the Napoleonic Wars period of about 1805. The furniture is all brass and the original ramrod is still present. This really is a peach, not only fabulously rare but offered in sleeper-untouched condition, the way we all just love to find them.
