  • Original Item: Only One Available. Another extraordinary piece acquired in IMA’s purchase of the Strakaty collection of Vienna, Austria.

John Vaughan had his gun maker shop in London between the years 1714 and 1746. This Sea Service Pattern Flintlock Brass Barreled Blunderbuss is nicely marked VAUGHAN over the date 1741 across the tail of the lock plate and has a Crown over G.R. to center of plate.

Notable features include; full brass mounts, a 15.5 inch swamped all brass barrel marked LONDON and also towards the muzzle LONDON & BRIGHTON No. 16 indicating that after retirement from active sea service this gun was used as a Coaching Blunderbuss on a well known line between London and the South Coast making this a most interesting weapon with masses of history.

    Overall length is 31.5 Inches.
