Item Description
Original Items: Only one set available. As far as Snider rifles go this is as good as you will ever find. Despite having a CROWN over 1872 on the lock plate this was manufactured by:
47 WHITTALL STREET
BIRMINGHAM
It was manufactured expressly for export to the government of NEW ZEALAND. This fine carbine bears Birmingham proof marks and is serial number 25. On the underside of the trigger guard it is clearly marked:
This is a classic carbine featuring a half stock with no provision for cleaning rod and is fitted with a saddle bar and one saddle ring on the left hand side. It even retains the original chained firing pin protector that fits between the hammer face and the firing pin assembly.
Best of all, this carbine comes with a matching serial numbered 85 leather saddle scabbard complete with two buckled hanging straps for use with a saddle and a "locking strap" that traps the carbine inside the scabbard for riding.
A fabulous set unlike anything we have even seen before offered in wonderful condition with an excellent bore, this rare colonial issue Snider saddle ring carbine and saddle scabbard is not to be missed!
