Original 16th Century European Engraved Breastplate Armor

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is absolutely 100% genuine and no less than 400 years old, in fact very possibly 450 years old. This is a high quality breast plate as used in Elizabethan England in the second half of the 16th Century. Wonderfully sculpted with deep pointed center and made to be worn with the Elizabethan balloon top leggings so often seen in those old Errol Flynn films.

The surface showing the line and scroll engraving along with faint traces of the original gold inlay that once covered the design. On the right side are two holes that at one time held a lance support, a hold over from earlier armors.

There has been some old damage to a portion of the front; probably in it's working life that has a more contemporary repair.

This type of Armor was used all over Western Europe during this period and would have been the style used at the Jamestown settlement in Virginia. Commonly worn with Morion or Burgonet Helmet typical Armor of the Spanish Main.
