Product Description

Original Item: Only one available. The Vickers-Berthier was first considered by the British Army at the Light Machine Gun Trial of 1930 in the form we are offering here with a fully ringed barrel. In .303cal this LMG was up against two models of the Danish Madsen, two models of Browning and a ZB 27 (Czech LMG), together with various others.

The Vickers-Berthier was adopted with a "smooth" barrel assembly as a belated interim step, and was used in it's earliest form somewhat by the Indian Army however all these trials eventually led to the permanent adoption of the Czech design based Bren Gun of WWII fame. "BREN" standing for "BR"(Brno, the Czech Manufacturer) and "EN" (For Enfield in North London).

Herewith we have a fully, legal to own without any type of firearms license, early style Vickers-Berthier Display Machine Gun, circa 1930 with the early fully ringed barrel assembly. Extremely rare today these filled void in British LMGs between the WW1 Lewis Gun and the WW2 Bren Gun. Complete with permanent bipod and magazine this display Vickers-Berthier Light Machine Gun is ready to complete any collection. Please see pages 56-76 of "The Bren Gun Saga" by Thomas B. Dougelby, the ultimate work for more information on this fabulous rare LMG!
