Original Item: Only One Available. Originally this was of course one half of a pair but only this one survives. Henry William Mortimer had a shop at 89 Fleet Street, London from 1780 until 1835 when the business name was changed to H.W. Mortimer and Sons from 1835 to 1855.
H.W. Mortimer bore a Royal Warrant having supplied weapons to the Royal family and was well known for supplying weapons to The Royal Mail Coaches. Probably the best known and one of the most revered gun makers of the period. Sets of Dueling Pistol by this maker command extremely high prices by collectors today.
This dueling pistol has a 12 inch octagonal barrel with gold lines to the breach. The top flat engraved "H.W. Mortimer. London. Gun maker to his Majesty." The barrel even has a gold lined touchhole.
The lock with roller fitted to the frizzen spring in marked "H.W. Mortimer" and has a safety catch
at the rear of the Lock Plate. The walnut buttstock in very finely chequered, the steel mounts are blued and the trigger guard bears fine engraving with a pineapple finial.
Overall length is 18 inches.
Just one half of the original pair and therefore priced reasonably for such a fine gun from one of the most renowned gun makers in English history.

IMA considers all of our antique guns as non-firing, inoperable and/or inert. Title 18, U.S. Code, Section 921(a)(16) defines antique firearms as all guns made prior to 1899. This law exempts antique firearms from any form of gun control or special engineering because they are not legally considered firearms. No FFL, C&R or any license is required to posses, transport, sell or trade Antique guns. All rifles and muskets sold by IMA that were manufactured prior to 1899 are considered Antiques by the US BATF (United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms). Therefore, all of IMA's Antique guns may be shipped to all US States and most nations around the world. These antique guns are not sold in “live” condition. They are sold as collector’s items or as “wall hangers”. Any attempt at restoring an antique gun to be operational is strongly discouraged and is done so at the risk of the customer. By purchasing an antique gun from IMA you thereby release IMA, its employees and corporate officers from any and all liability associated with use of our Antique guns. Pre-1899 Manufacture, no licenses required, allowed to ship to almost any deliverable address across the globe.
