Maxim Machine Gun The Maxim Machine Gun was the primary machine gun used by the German army from the early 1900's through early WWII. The primary versions of the Maxim machine gun, the MG08 and the MG05/15, were both largely used for defensive purposes on the battlefield due to their bulk.
