Original Item: Only One Available. This is a genuine Federal Issue leather Pattern 1855 .58 Caliber Cartridge Box with box plate that has a lot of history behind it. It is a classic example of Civil War field equipment and is ideal for collectors looking for a representative or advanced piece.
The box has seen some action during the American Civil War and has slight signs of wear and tear. The right side lower corner is slightly curled upwards, which indicates that the soldier who wore it repeatedly lifted the outer flap of the cartridge box to access the cartridges held within. This small detail adds to the box's authenticity and historical value.
Both the original matching cartridge tins are present, which is a rarity as these tins were often lost or misplaced. The outer flap has light surface wear, but the latch tab is attached by a row of stitching, ensuring that the flap stays closed. Surprisingly, the original closure tab is completely intact and unbroken, which is a rare find nowadays.
Both cartridge box strap buckles are intact and in good condition. The interior flap is also intact with side ears of the flap both intact. The tool pouch is also intact with a flap and closure tab, making it perfect for storing small tools.

The bottom of the box has both roller buckles and brass final intact, which is a testament to its durability.
