Political cartoons, often full of humorous caricatures of major figures, are one of the most enduring forms of political commentary, in use around the world. During wartime however, these often become far more pointed, often used both as a source of humor but also as home front propaganda and morale boosters. This is a great set of 5 anti-axis political cartoon post cards, which show a great range of the various types in use during wartime around the world. The post cards all measure approximately 3 1/2" x 5 1/2", and only one of the 5 has been mailed.

This lovely set includes:
● One U.S. "THE BIRD FOR THE JOB" post card, showing an eagle with U.S. on its wings dropping a Japanese man into the top of FUJIYAMA, or Mount Fuji. It is copyrighted 1942 by Trichnor Bros.,Inc. This post card was actually mailed, and has a 1943 post stamp on it from FORT KNOX. It looks to be from a Pfc. Chas Soula, and gives his station information, though it is hard to read.
● One U.S. "UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER" post card, showing Axis leaders Hideki Tojo, Adolf H, and Benito Mussolini being hung from a tree, which has some branches shaped like the "Rising Sun" and NSDAP Swas. They show the leaders reaching out to a small "world", which is thumbing its nose at them.
● One U.S. "LOOK! UNCLE SAM MADE MONKEYS OF 'EM" post card, showing Axis leaders Hideki Tojo, Adolf H, and Benito Mussolini as monkeys in a tree, which has some branches shaped like the NSDAP Swas.
● One U.S. "THOSE JAPS WILL SOON BE SLAP-HAPPY!" post card, showing a large "Uncle Sam" holding his very large hand out to slap a Japanese soldier in front of him.
● One U.S. post card, showing NSDAP Leader Adolf H running away from a USGI with a bayonet fixed on his M1 Garand Rifle.
