Original U.S. Mexican-American War Era Leather Saddle Pommel Holsters For a Brace of Flintlock or Percussion Cap Pistols - Fits Pistols Up To 11 Inches

Regular price $1,195.00

Item Description

Original Items: Only One Set Available. Here we have an exceptional pair of black and brown leather saddle holsters that are specifically designed to hold flintlock / Percussion pistols up to 11 inches. We are uncertain as to which pistol this was designed due to many of the British produced pistols measured up to 11 inches in length, or it could very well have been made to fit a specific pistol produced by the United States. The leather is smooth and supple, with a glossy finish that exudes elegance and sophistication in the areas it was retained.

While the leather is in good condition overall, there is some noticeable surface finish loss on the yoke between the holsters, which may detract from the overall appearance. Fortunately, the two holsters are still firmly attached together, which is uncommon as these leather holsters often degraded over time and ultimately would end up tearing in two.

Despite these minor flaws, these holsters are still a fantastic addition to any collection. They are a testament to the craftsmanship of the era and a true representation of early America.

These holsters are in remarkably good condition for the age, with all sewn seams still holding tightly. The body of each holster measures approximately 12.5 inches in length, providing ample space for smaller pistols. The holsters are equipped with a brass drag on each body, adding to their aesthetic appeal. However, it is worth noting that neither holster features a closure tab.

If you are a collector, adding these holsters to a pair of original or reproduction Flintlock and Percussion Cap pistols would make for an impressive display.
