Original U.S. WWII KA-BAR Style Fighting Knife with Anderson Knife Co. Style Molded Plastic Grip & Leather Sheath

Regular price $495.00

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. During WW2 the need for fighting knives was so great that many private makers geared up to equip America's fighting men. Tom Anderson of Glendale, California took advantage of the government's release of quality blade steel in the form of the old M-1913 "Patton" cavalry sabers to make high quality private purchase fighting knives. Each Patton saber would yield three usable sections of high quality blade steel, to which Anderson affixed his patented injection molded plastic handle. It was a high tech procedure for the early 1940s.

This very interesting knife is completely unmarked, but the shape of the grip is definitely of the Anderson style, and we believe this was an unmarked "Shop special", most likely made for a friend who brought their own blade. This looks to be a KA-Bar style, but it's possible that it was shaped from another style of blade. This was then set into a black injection molded handle, which has white pearloid inclusions. Anderson was one of the only makers at the time who was doing this, so we can't see who else could have made it at the time.

It comes with a great leather sheath, which is relatively standard, and is marked S P at the top of the belt loop.

Offered in good condition, you won't find another one of these anytime soon!
